About this place

The location of Light Point Taipei is a historical witness to the diplomatic relations between China and the United States. This building once served as the U.S. Consulate, Consulate General and Embassy in Taipei. After the U.S. Embassy in Taipei was officially closed in 1979, the building was abandoned for many years. In 1997, it was officially designated as a third-level historic site (now a municipality designated historic site). It reopened under the name "Taipei House" in November of the 1990s of the Republic of China (2002 AD). The exterior of this building is a white two-story Western-style building. The interior is laid out with a central corridor and stairwell. The columns are simple Greek columns. It is an art and cultural space focusing on film culture, integrating traces and movies. It houses an exhibition hall, an art hall, a small cinema, a light food restaurant and a bookstore with the theme of "movie" and "city".
