Shilin Official Residence is located on the southeast side of the intersection of Section 5 of Zhongshan North Road and Fulin Road in Shilin District. It was originally part of the Horticulture Management Office (formerly the Shilin Horticulture Experimental Branch). After the Nationalist Government moved to Taiwan, in the 39th year of the Republic of China (1950 AD), President Chiang Kai-shek's official residence was located here. Since then, the Shilin Official Residence has become a sacred, mysterious and inaccessible forbidden place in the eyes of Taipei citizens. After 46 years of strict protection, the trend of democracy made Shilin Official Residence officially open in the 85th year of the Republic of China (1996 AD), becoming another place for tourists to visit during holidays. The official residence is divided into an outer garden, an inner garden, and the main room from the outside to the inside. There is a greenhouse potted area in the outer garden (mainly cultivated orchids), and the rose garden next to it (mainly cultivated roses) is also full of flowers. The rose garden is in full bloom from March to May, and it is Mrs. Chiang's favorite rose garden. The official residence is full of birdsong and flowers, and the landscape is quiet and elegant.
