About this place

Beitou Library is Taiwan's first green building library. It is located in Beitou Park, next to the Beitou Hot Spring Museum, with one basement and two floors above ground. The entire building is built using environmentally friendly green energy methods. The roof is made of lightweight ecological materials and is equipped with solar photovoltaic panels to generate electricity. The green roof and sloped turf can naturally drain water to the rainwater recovery tank, which can then be recycled for watering plants and flushing toilets. It not only greens the entire library and reduces water waste. In the 101st year of the Republic of China (2012 AD), it was selected as one of the "25 Most Beautiful Public Libraries in the World" by the American website Flavorwire.com.
