About this place
Yangming Bookstore was originally a hot spring villa area for Japan's leading elites during the Japanese colonial period. President Chiang Kai-shek believed that the scenery here was beautiful and excellent, so he built the "Zhongxing Hotel" here, the predecessor of Yangming Bookstore, to receive foreign guests, host meetings and escape from the summer heat. Later, Yangmingshan Villa and Zhongshan Tower were built nearby. Many government officials often held meetings here, making Yangmingshan the decision-making center of the national government.
