About this place

The Lin Antai Ancient House located in Binjiang Park is a traditional Chinese courtyard house with rigorous layout and elegant carvings. It is a rare ancient building in northern Taiwan that has been completely preserved. Lin Yao, the founder of the Lin family, crossed the sea from Anxi to Taiwan in 1754. His son Lin Hui was engaged in trading business in Menga. The shop was named Rongtai Hao. Because of his skillful management, he made a lot of money. Therefore, in 1783, he built a house near the current Siwei Road and named it "Antai". Lin Antai Ancient House has a history of more than 160 years. When Lin Hui first built it, it was just a house with five rooms. Later, the left and right wing rooms and the entrance hall were added one after another to become a courtyard. In the late Qing Dynasty, two outer wing rooms and a study room were added to form the current layout of two rooms with four rooms. It is the most complete ancient house building in Taipei City.
