About this place
The National Taiwan Museum was established in 1908 and is the oldest museum in Taiwan. At that time, the Japanese government established the "Taiwan Governor's Palace Museum" in 1908 to commemorate the opening of the North-South Railway in Taiwan. The new building was opened in 228 Peace Park (formerly known as Taipei New Park) in 1915. The designer was Japanese architect Ichiro Nomura. The architectural style imitated the Doric style of ancient Greece during the Renaissance. Its majestic architectural form and beautiful classical sculpture craftsmanship have always been regarded as a rare architectural treasure in modern Taiwan.
