Ciyou Palace was built in 1753 AD and was the origin of the development of Songshan area. Songshan was once called Xikou. The plaque on the main entrance of Songshan Ciyou Palace reads "Xikou Ciyou Palace". A long time ago, there was a monk who traveled around with the golden body of Meizhou Mazu to beg for alms. One day he came to Xikou. There were many people in the local area who were from the same hometown as him. In addition, people believed in Mazu, so everyone donated money together to build a Mazu palace. After more than ten years of raising funds, construction finally started in 1753 and was completed in 1757.
