About this place
Since its establishment in 1921, the Botanical Garden has been a part of the memories of many Taipei people. Stopping here to take a break in your free time, whether it is the lotus flowers in summer or the fallen leaves in winter, is a fond memory for many people. The botanical garden is affiliated to the Forestry Experimental Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture. On January 22, 1921, the forestry experimental site was officially designated as a botanical garden. By around 1930, 1,120 species of plants had been planted in the park, most of which were imported from abroad, making great contributions to academic and natural science education. However, during World War II, all the trees in the park were lost. After World War II, the park was reorganized and various foreign tree species were actively introduced for planting. So far, the types of buildings and plants in the park have far exceeded those in the past, with more than a thousand species of plants collected.
