About this place

Menga Qingshuiyan, also known as the "Ancestral Temple", was built in 1787 AD. Together with Menga Longshan Temple and Dalongdong Baoan Temple, it is also known as the "Three Major Temple Gates in Taipei". The Qingshui Patriarch Chen Zhaoying who is the main worshiper was an immigrant from Anxi, Fujian Province. There are seven statues in total, among which the Penglai Patriarch is the most spiritual, also known as the "Luubi Patriarch". According to legend, when natural disasters occur, the ancestor's nose will fall off on its own to warn believers that it will not recover until the disaster passes.
