Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, located in Xinyi District, Taipei City, covers an area of ββ6.6 hectares. It was formerly known as the "Taiwan Governor's Office Monopoly Songshan Tobacco Factory" built in 1937. It was later taken over by the Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Monopoly Bureau and renamed "Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Monopoly Songshan Tobacco Factory". It is the first modern cigarette factory in Taiwan. It produces cigarettes and cigars and created considerable economic output for Taiwan at the time. In 1998, due to factors such as declining demand, production was stopped and the Taipei Tobacco Factory was moved. Designated as the 99th municipal historic site by the Taipei City Government in 2021, it was transformed into Songshan Cultural and Creative Park and officially opened to the public on November 15, 2011. Positioned as the "Taipei City Original Base", it combines the revitalization of historical buildings and the support of cultural and creative industries, and has become an important core of Taipei City's cultural and creative industries, gathering art, Design and cultural creativity exhibitions, with strategies such as "cross-border experiments", "creative showcases" and "creator factories", as well as self-organized activities such as the "Songshan Cultural and Creative School Festival", "Summer Relaxation" and "Original Base Festival", have become an internationally competitive cultural life site and opened up more possibilities for Taiwan's cultural and creative industry.
