About this place
Dadaocheng was originally the residence of the Pingpu people. Due to fierce armed fighting between Wanhua (Mengga) and the An people, the tribesmen moved to Dadaocheng to settle down, and began to build shops and houses next to the Tamsui River in Dadaocheng. After the opening of Tamsui Port, Dadaocheng was established by Liu Mingchuan. Under its governance, it became the most prosperous material distribution center in Taipei City, with tea and cloth as the main trade transactions. At that time, Yanping North Road and Guide Street were the focus of commercial activities, making Dadaocheng's early history colorful and evocative.
