About this place
Raohe Street Night Market is located on Raohe Street between Section 4 of Bade Road and Fuyuan Street in Songshan District. It is 600 meters long and is one of the large tourist night markets in downtown Taipei. The area around Raohe Street and Songshan Station was formerly known as Xikou. Due to the deep water of the Keelung River, the area was easily accessible by boat. It became a transfer station for goods from Keelung and Yilan to Taipei City. At that time, merchants gathered and boats came to the city. It was so prosperous that the area was known as "Little Suzhou". Later, due to the siltation of the harbor river, fewer and fewer boats were parked. In addition, after the widening of Bade Road, Raohe Street became a secondary road, and commercial activities were greatly reduced. In order to improve the livelihood of local businesses, the government concentrated the licensed vendors under the Nansongshan Bridge on Raohe Street in 1987. It was planned to be 500 meters long and became the second tourist night market in Taipei City. The stalls are neat and tidy, with a wide variety of items including oyster noodles, beef noodles, ice cream stalls, etc. In addition to snacks, various daily necessities such as clothing and leather shoes are also of high quality and low price. In addition, there are folk skills performances and local product exhibitions and sales.
